Troop 51 Turns 10 Years Old!
We thank all the families
that came out to Lake Ray Roberts and joined our 10 year
anniversary picnic. With all the games and activities, fun was
had by all! Congratulations to Troop 51 for turning 10 years
old!

July 30th
Troop Elections - All Scouts are encouraged to apply
for the leadership positions in
this document. Leadership applications must be turned in to Troop 51

August Board of Review - The date has been moved to
August 18th. The sign up deadline is August 14th and

due no later than August 21st and can be paid to our Troop

Summer Camp Medical
Forms - If you received an e-mail from Brenda Richard
our Troop Secretary regarding your child's medical form, please remember
to bring it to the Court of Honor this Sunday, July 10th. If she does
not receive the form this weekend, your child will not be allowed to go
to summer camp. It is a BSA requirement
that all scouts and leaders need to have a completed medical form for

Changes to July and August Troop 51 Board of Reviews
July: Wednesday July 13, 2011. Sign up deadline is
Sunday July 10th
August: Thursday August 18, 2011. Sign up
deadline is Sunday August 14th
Troop Meeting/Broomball –
A fun activity is planned for the June 19th troop meeting. Each player
will need to pay $10 and sign a waiver at the rink. We have a 1/4 sheet
of ice reserved. Players do not need any equipment, only their tennis
shoes and long pants. Contact Stephanie Parkhill with any questions.

Hawaiian Falls - The
troop has another fun family activity planned for the last weekend in
June. For $20 each, a scout or family member will receive entry to the
park, reserved seating, unlimited fountain drinks and a hot dog
lunch. If interested, please get payment to Mr. Kennedy
Signup Deadline: this Sunday, June 12th, tickets will
be pre-purchased
When: Sunday, June 26th @ 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM
Where: Hawaiian Falls Water Park, The Colony
Cost: $20 per person

Hiking Merit Badge
Troop 51 is hosting a program for this challenging merit badge.
The program will run from May till September of this year. A Scout
must be at least Second Class (by 5/1) in rank to register and able to
endure long hikes at a moderate pace (great for high adventure training
like Philmont). The program will include the following (using the
Skurka Hiking Method):

(5) 10 mile hikes (4 and a make-up)
·
15 mile hike
·
20 mile hike
·

Buffalo River Trip
This is about a 60 mile
canoe trip down the Buffalo and White rivers in Arkansas. This is a
high-adventure activity and therefore has some special
requirements:
· Scout must be 14 by 6/1 and pass the BSA swimmer test – swimming &
canoeing MB recommended
· Younger scouts may participate with parent/guardian that is a
registered adult leader
· All scouts and adults must pass the BSA swimmer test and have current
medical forms on file (parts A, B & C)
· Deposit Due: 5/1 @ troop meeting, $20
· Final Payment & Permission Due: 5/15 @ troop meeting $120
· Crew Assignments/Logistics: June 5th
· Load for Trip: June 19th
· Buffalo River Trip: 6/21-6/26

Oak Leaf Training - Saturday April
30th
All scouts that are at
least First Class and that have not previously completed Oak Leaf or
NYLT are recommended to attend this training. It is
required to hold most leadership positions in the troop.
